In the summer of 2004 I quit my job to start my own business. (Don’t try that at home, kids… If you have that entrepreneurial bug in you, start a business while you still have a job and quit the job only when you have replaced your “job” income.)
Prior to that, I had many years of managing software implementation projects for large (usually publicly traded) companies. I’ve been a consultant all my professional life. I’ve read countless books and took countless seminars on management, sales, and marketing. I was *ready* to do my own thing.
Well, “my own thing” did not exactly take off according to my plans. In fact, for several years, I struggled to make my business really work. There were ups and downs, and many downs were bigger than the ups. However, this quest for the marketing “holy grail” has given me the knowledge, experience, and insight into what makes a business work.
In 2007, I partnered up with a company called HealthyWealthynWise to help them create a series of tele-seminars for network marketers. The result was over 3,000 participants in our workshops from five continents and thousands of dollars in net profits from selling the audio recordings of our teleseminars.
In 2008, I launched RestaurantCommando.com. Ever since this website has been on the first page of Google for terms like “restaurant marketing” and “restaurant business”.
In 2009 I realized the power of joint ventures and started setting up deals between various online businesses with lists ranging from 20,000 to 160,000 subscribers.
In February of 2010 I decided to start building my own list (duh!). Dunno why it took me so long to understand that the only type of business that has longevity, equity, and a sustained ability to generate profits is the one that has a large and loyal list.
As the time goes and as my list (or lists) continue to grow, I will be updating you on products, tools, tactics, techniques, and methods that I have discovered, tried, tested, perfected and profited from.
